The Centre of Global Finance and FinTech is proud to announce that Professor Roman Matousek, Director of the Centre and Head of the Department of Economics and Finance, successfully presented his latest research at the 2026 Allied Social Science Associations (ASSA) Annual Meeting, held January 3–5, 2026, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
The ASSA Annual Meeting, organized by the American Economic Association (AEA), is one of the world’s most influential and largest gatherings of economists and social scientists. This premier event brings together leading scholars, policymakers, and researchers from around the globe for over 550 scholarly sessions, featuring cutting-edge research across economics, finance, and related disciplines.
Professor Matousek’s paper, titled “The Government Bond Market and X-Based Public Optimism: Pre-Rate Hike and Rate Hike Periods”, was co-authored with Kairan Chen and Professor Brigitte Granville.
This presentation underscores the international impact and high academic quality of research conducted at HSUHK and the Centre of Global Finance and FinTech. It highlights Professor Matousek’s ongoing contributions to financial economics, monetary policy, and behavioral aspects of markets—areas central to the Centre’s mission of advancing innovative, policy-relevant research in global finance and fintech.
