
The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong – Secondary School FinTech Innovation Competition 2025 invites Form 4 and Form 5 students to bring innovative ideas to FinTech applications. This event serves as a platform for students to showcase their creativity, problem-solving skills, and industry awareness, empowering them to become future leaders in the AI-driven financial landscape.
Theme: Generative AI for Finance and FinTech Education
Let’s bring your innovative ideas to the FinTech applications.
Background
Investigate the potential of generative AI in producing engaging and informative financial education materials. Students can explore how AI can create materials like games, visualize arts e.g. short video, storyboard/graphical presentation, or interactive learning tools that help mass public understand basic financial and FinTech concepts come across in daily life.

Form 4 and Form 5 secondary school students.
Awards and Prizes
Each participant will be issued a Certificate of Achievement, which will also be of high reference value for future admission to the Bachelor of Business Administrative (Honours) in Financial Analysis and FinTech Degree Programme of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
Champion: Cash Prize of HK$5,000
1st runner-up: Cash Prize of HK$4,000
2nd runner-up: Cash Prize of HK$3,000
Merit: Cash Prize of HK$1,500
Competition Format
Online Registration

A maximum of two teams from each School.
Each team (3-4 team members) are required to fill in an online application form on or before 23:59 1 April 2025 (Tuesday); and upload identification document* of each team member during online registration.
*Soft copy of a full time local student identity proof that is issued by a local secondary school in Hong Kong.
A registration notice with an assign team number will be sent to the registrants after submitting the online form. The team number is used for the online submission of competition entries.
Briefing Session
The briefing session will be held on 7 April 2025 (Monday).
Time: 16:15-17:00.
Format: Online.
Competition format, details and judging criteria will be introduced in this session. All registered teams must send at least one team member to attend the session.
The briefing session will be followed by a webinar about FinTech.
Entry / Presentation Submission
Presentation PowerPoint or slides (either in English or Chinese) and a demonstration video for 2-3 minutes have to be submitted on or before 23:59 5 June 2025 (Thursday).
About the demonstration video: Students are required to submit a 2–3 minutes video that gives an introduction to their products, explains and demonstrates how their final product or result can be practically utilized. The video should include: Overview of the Final Product/Result; Practical Application.
Coding / programming is not a must in this competition.
Students need to submit the exact Generative AI prompts they used to create their project as appendix.
Final Presentation and Award Presentation Ceremony
The invitation to the Final Presentation and Award Presentation Ceremony will be sent to each finalist teams before 12 June 2025 (Thursday) to present their ideas, and our judging panel will score on the spot.
Students can present their ideas either in English or Cantonese.
Details of Final presentation and Award Presentation Ceremony:
Date: 19 June 2025 (Thursday)
Time: 14:00-18:00
Venue: A401, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong
Attendance of the whole team is required.
Each team will be given 15-20 minutes for each presentation, each team has to conduct their entire presentation within the time limit in any form.
The presentation will be immediately followed by a 5-minute Q & A session with the judging panel.
Winners, as well as the finalists and the rest of the participating teams will be invited on stage to accept their awards and certificates.
Awarding Criteria
Submitted designs are further considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, choices of medium, and usefulness. The FinTech innovation aspect is given the most weight. The FinTech application designs are selected according to the ease of use, and interaction, easy to learn, functionality and emotional aspects of the interface.
