The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong – Secondary School FinTech Innovation Competition 2024 invites Form 4 and Form 5 students to bring innovative ideas to FinTech applications. Background
Artificial intelligence (AI) is an incredibly hot and significant topic in today’s world. Its integration in the financial industry is increasingly crucial as it holds the potential to revolutionize financial services and make them more accessible. The Secondary School FinTech Innovation Competition 2024 recognizes the importance of AI and invites students to present their visionary AI concepts tailored specifically for the financial sector.
By participating in this competition, students not only gain valuable experience but also contribute to shaping the future of finance through their innovative and forward-thinking AI ideas. The competition highlights the significance of AI and equips students with the knowledge and capabilities to excel in the digital era, where AI is playing an increasingly vital role in various industries, including finance.
Competition Objectives
Explore the intersection of FinTech and the unique economic landscape of the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Develop innovative solutions to address cross-border financial challenges and opportunities in the GBA.
Collaborate and network with peers from local universities and industry professionals.
Showcase creativity by designing practical and impactful FinTech applications tailored to the GBA region.
Refine your presentation and pitching skills by presenting ideas to an expert panel of judges.
Gain insights into the future of financial integration and technological advancement in one of the world’s most dynamic regions.
Competition Details
Targeted Student
Form 4 and Form 5 secondary school students.
Awards and Prizes
Each participant will be issued a certificate of Achievement, which will also be of high reference value for future admission to The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong.
Champion: Cash Prize of HK$5,000
1st runner up: Cash Prize of HK$4,000
2nd runner up: Cash Prize of HK$3,000
Merit: Cash Prize of HK$1,500
Competition Format
Online Registration

A maximum of two teams from each School.
Each team (3-4 team members) are required to fill in an online application form on or before 23:59 26 April 2024 (Friday); and upload identification document* of each team member during online registration.
*Soft copy of a full time local student identity proof that is issued by a local secondary school in Hong Kong.
A registration notice with team number will be sent to the registrants after submitting the online form. The team number is used for the online submission of competition entries.
Briefing Session
The briefing sessions will be held on 30 April 2024 (Tuesday).
Time: 16:15-17:00.
Format: Online.
Competition format, details and judging criteria will be introduced in this session. All registered teams must send at least one team member to attend the session.
The briefing session will be followed by a webinar about FinTech.
Entry / Presentation Submission
Presentation PowerPoint or slides (either in English or Chinese) have to be submitted on or before 23:59 18 June 2024 (Tuesday).
Coding / programming is not a must in this competition.
Final Presentation and Award Presentation Ceremony
The invitation of the Final Presentation and Award Presentation Ceremony will be sent to each finalist teams before 21 June 2024 (Friday).
Six Finalist Teams will be invited to The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong to present their ideas, and our judging panel will score on the spot.
Students can present their ideas either in English or Cantonese.

Date: 26 June 2024 (Wednesday)
Time: 14:00-18:00
Venue: A401, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong
Attendance of the whole team is required.
Given 15-20 minutes for each presentation, each team has to conduct their entire presentation within the time limit in any form.
The presentation will be immediately followed by a 5-minute Q & A session with the judging panel.
Winners, as well as the finalists and the rest of the participating teams will be invited on stage to accept their awards and certificates.
Awarding Criteria
Submitted designs are further considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, choices of medium, and usefulness. The FinTech innovation aspect is given the most weight. The FinTech application designs are selected according to the ease of use, interactivity and interaction content, easy to learn, functionality and emotional aspects of the interface.
