The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has unveiled ‘FinTech 2025’, its new strategy for driving FinTech development of Hong Kong. It outlines a new FinTech strategy aimed at encouraging full technology adoption in the financial sector by 2025 and promoting fair and efficient financial services for the benefit of Hong Kong citizens and the economy. And earlier than “FinTech 2025”, the HKMA announced seven initiatives in September 2017 to move Hong Kong into a new era of smart banking. To develop an open API framework is one of such initiatives.
