The Centre for Global Finance and FinTech is the research and knowledge exchange platform of the HSUHK School of Business. We investigate the structural evolution of finance, focusing on how technology and regulation are reshaping global systems, with a particular emphasis on practical challenges and policy implications.
Our location is integral to our perspective. Based in Hong Kong with strong ties to the Greater Bay Area, we are positioned within a leading international financial ecosystem that is also at the forefront of technological integration. This unique setting ensures our research is relevant, grounded, and attuned to the realities of market adoption and regulatory development.
Our research is organised around several defining themes
- Open banking and the expansion of open finance
- The application and governance of artificial intelligence in financial services
- Digital assets, tokenisation, and blockchain based markets
- Regulatory technology and innovation in supervision
- The digitalisation of money, including central bank digital currencies and stablecoins
We engage our community through multiple channels. This includes producing academic publications and policy briefs, convening seminars and workshops that bridge scholars and practitioners, and fostering talent by involving students directly in applied research projects. Collaboration with the wider innovation ecosystem, such as through the Cyberport University Partnership Programme, is also a key part of our activities.
In all our work, we are guided by the HSUHK School of Business’s core principles.
